You should periodically check your child’s head, using a magnifying glass and strong light. Head lice shun light and move quickly, you usually don’t see them. You can see the nits, however. These may be found anywhere on the hair shaft, usually near the nape of the neck. Start your search behind the ears and at the nape of the neck and continue to the crown of the head.
